Opera Developer adds access to Aria AI in the address bar – AI Feature Drop

Today we’re adding a new access point to the Aria browser AI that you’ve been asking for: now you can effortlessly ask Aria any question from the address bar after typing “@aria” (and then hitting space/tab) in Opera Developer – this will open Aria in a tab interface. With this new addition, you can access Aria as quickly as you would any website, and the best part is that you can do so without taking your hands off your keyboard.

Accessing Aria in the address bar enables you to make quick queries or advanced requests to Opera’s built-in browser AI and get instant answers that are tailored to your needs and your context. You can make the same requests from the address bar as from a “regular” sidebar or tab chat with Aria. For instance, generating images or different types of files, asking for support with coding, generating an interesting recipe for the ingredients at home, or even exploring travelling destinations as well as shopping options. In fact, you can access all of Aria’s capabilities from this new access point.

This addition is part of our AI Feature Drops program and follows careful consideration of your feedback and requests.

How to access Aria from the address bar

To use this new access point:

First open up Opera Developer and make sure to update it to the latest version – or download it here if you haven’t already.

Go to the address bar and type @aria followed by a space or a Tab keystroke.

Then, type in your query and hit the Enter key.

Add your query directly after typing @aria and then space or tab.

Your interaction will be opened through the Aria in tab interface, and it will be added to your chat history with Aria if you’re logged in.

Aria in tab interface will open when you access it from the address bar.

Accessing Aria from the address bar doesn’t limit the models that it uses to answer your queries, it will continue to choose the best one depending on your prompt – GPT-4o, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 3 for the images you want to generate.
